Several articles from today’s news posted in the New York Times, USA Today, Dallas Morning Star and several others including blogs sites like Gizmodo and Endgadget, informed travelers about new Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bags. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) posted a Request For Information (RFI) to laptop bag manufacturers asking for their help to make Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bags.

The TSA gave specific requirements they wanted the cases to have, and manufacturers had to submit their designs to the TSA for approval. These new bags designs in theory will help relieve some of the time required to check bags through airport screening checkpoints.

Mobile Edge has answered that TSA request and came up with three superior designs. We first developed a laptop Briefcase with easy access panels to allow airport screeners to properly screen your bag without having to remove the laptop. We then created a laptop Messenger Bag with ergonomic handles again with an easy access panel for easy screening. However, the most ingenious design incorporates a laptop Backpack. This backpack also has an easy access panel allowing the screeners to properly screen the belongings without removing the laptop. Our design team had to be creative in their concepts, and have since created three great laptop bags that are sure to help out travelers pass through airport check-point screeners quickly and efficiently.

The new Mobile Edge Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bags are scheduled to hit stores sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

Shawn Rapier joins Sales Team at Mobile Edge

Mobile Edge submitted three new design concepts to the Transportation Security Agency (TSA) in an effort to help make traveling through airport screening checkpoints easier and quicker. We know how daunting those long lines at the airport can be, and this is a way to help alleviate those long lines.

The TSA sent out an official request (RFI) to leading laptop bag manufacturers to make the “perfect laptop bag” in which the TSA will approve themselves. Of course the design team at Mobile Edge was at the top of their list and jumped all over that request.

Without giving our competition too much information, we submitted three designs that are sure to be approved through the TSA. Anything we can do to help relieve some of the wait when traveling through airport screening checkpoints will help.

One of the guidelines the TSA had was to create a laptop bag that would open all the way up so the user would not have to take their laptop completely out of the bag. This would in turn help make the line move quicker, helping passengers get to their terminals in a timely manner. This would remove one additional step we have to take when traveling.

One thing is for sure, Mobile Edge will have TSA approved laptop bags very soon. Once they are approved from the TSA, we will make sure our customers are aware of these new and innovative laptop cases. Stay tuned for more information . Flying on commercial airlines can be a frustrating, annoying experience. Flying first class is a way to enjoy superior comfort and service. The price can be high, but the benefits are considerable.

The first class experience begins even before you board the plane. Many airports have separate lines for security that can be used by first class passengers, as well as frequent flyers.

On boarding, airlines will board first class passengers first, giving them time to relax before the crush of coach passengers board. On some planes, coach passengers walk through the first class cabin, and can observe that drinks are already being served before the flight takes off.

Boarding first enables passengers to stow baggage in the empty overhead compartments. The ample storage area in front area is reserved for first class passengers.

Seating in First Class

The seats are wide, with extra padding for comfort. The general rule is that two first class seats are as wide as three coach seats. There is an area to place items next to the seat, as well as a tray that unfolds from the side.

Flight attendants will usually take coats and jackets and hang them nicely in a closet, keeping them neat and out of the way, in contrast to coach, where they stay on the lap or are jammed into the overhead storage.

More flight attendants are assigned to first class. A flight with 200 coach passengers may have four attendants, with one primarily dedicated to the 16 first class passengers.

Mobile Edge released the Cutebug line of bags, hipsters and clutches - all designed by Maddie Powers - a few months back and we got one in for review recently. The Cutebug Hipster has the iconic trademark of the line but will it measure up to its peer’s quality wise? Can a bag that is so slim really be useful to a notebook owner?

Design and Aesthetics

The Mobile Edge Cutebug Hipster by Maddie Powers comes in pink and burgundy with black accents and hardware. The company says it will soon be releasing black and green versions and already have a sample picture up on the website.
All the burgundy sections of the bag seem to be made out of velvet like material and the front of the bag has Maddie Powers’ trademark “pulp magazine images from the 40s and 50s” along with the text “ideal Love magazine” and “Believe My Heart.” In the bottom corner there is a Cutebug logo.
If you flip open the magnetic front flap, there is a medium sized zippered pocket, an id/business card holder and three pen/pencil pockets. You can fit a thin wallet, cell phone, a digital camera, MP3 player, etc. in the medium sized pocket. On the inside of the flap there is a clear id pocket.
The bulk of the bag is dedicated to carrying a 14.1″ notebook and comes with a removable pink neoprene sleeve. The sleeve is pretty typical with a soft inside lining to prevent scratching. There is one large zippered pocket on the inside of the bag but will only fit a thin paper notebook while the laptop is inside the bag.

The back of the bag is completely covered in that same burgundy velour material as the front and there is another large zippered pocket. It could be used to a hold a paper notebook or other slim accessories.

The shoulder strap is not removable but the soft non-slip padding is, if you’re not a padding kind of person.

The Cutebug Hipster and all the products in the Maddie Powers line are for a specific kind of person. They are trendy but border on kitschy, although not so much in quality, as the hipster seems very well made.
