Mobile Edge Milano on Jessie Annie’s Christmas List

Matthew Olivolo October 31st, 2007

By Jessie AnnieMobile Edge Large Milano Handbag

Look at me. As if I were still 5 years old and expecting every odd family member to give me gifts, I’m compiling my annual Christmas wish list.

Let me preface this by saying I’ve been searching for the perfect giant bag – something capable of holding all my crap (even in the most odd situations where I somehow find myself stuffing multiple press kits in my purse, or when I need to carry around a pad of paper, pen, and recorder). Plus, I want something classic, something quality, something ME.

At first, I fell in love with Kristen Lee’s Freelancer Bag. Lance almost bought me a cheap knock off on Canal Street, but I’m glad he didn’t. I love this bag, but it won’t last me 10 years. I really want something to go the distance here. I don’t want to have to keep running out and buying a new bag every year. And I don’t want to risk looking too young carrying this “hipster” bag.

So, I finally found the perfect big bag: the Large Milano by Mobile Edge. It’s classic, quality, sophisticated, and gigantic. And, less than half the price of the Freelancer at only $119.99.

New Mobile Edge Sheba featured on Yahoo! Tech

Jason Gerdon October 30th, 2007

Mobile Edge Sheba Laptop Bag No more boring black laptop bags for women anymore. At least not when there are bags like the Cutebug Collection from Mobile Edge. Women now get the best of both worlds; style mixed with functionality. Here is a little of what Gina Hughes over at Yahoo! Tech had to say:

“I’ve featured a few styles on this blog before, but nothing as hip as the Maddie Powers’s Cutebug collection. Maddie Powers teamed up with Mobile Edge to design a couple of computer bags featuring glamorous pin-up girls from the 50s. Unlike a regular messenger bag, the Cute Laptop bags are actually lined with Safety Cell for extra protection, and have zippered pockets to hold your cell phone or iPod. They even have removable laptop sleeves so you can change bags anytime. I like the added Lucky Seven dice that hangs from the bag to give it that old school charm. They’re perfect for the girl with the big brain and big attitude.”

Hacker Proof: I.D. Sentry Wallets From Mobile Edge

Matthew Olivolo October 26th, 2007

In the digital age we live in, Identity Theft has become a serious threat. Reports have emerged of new ways thieves are attacking unsuspecting credit card and Passport holders stealing their confidential information and credit card numbers without being detected due to the misuse of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

As recently reported in the New York Times, there is a growing concern about the potential security and privacy holes in the new generation of credit cards using RFID technology. With tens of millions of cards already issued, “equipment for their use is showing up at a growing number of locations,” the article revealed. Additionally, U.S. passports now contain the new RFID chip. Would be thieves are able to scan a user’s social security number and other personal information completely undetected.

ID Sentry Wallets

The research and development team at Mobile Edge identified this threat and designed two new wallets that protect users from unauthorized RFID access or ‘skimming.’ Both wallets incorporate a patent pending alloy shielding material which blocks out all unauthorized RFID scanning. The ID Sentry Passport Wallet is equipped to handle all standard sized passports, with five slots for additional ID/credit cards and a pocket for money. The Credit Card Wallet is proportionately sized to accommodate multiple IDs and credit cards.

“This is a serious problem that needed to be addressed. Technology is a great tool when used properly,” said Chuck Gangi, vice president of sales for Mobile Edge. “However, with new technology comes new security treats. Our new ID Sentry Wallets eliminate this threat and give our customers the peace of mind they deserve.”

Both wallets are made of black Lambskin Leather. The ID Sentry Passport Wallet (MEWSS-WW) carries a suggested retail price of $29.99, and ID Sentry Wallet (MEWSS-CW) $19.99. Click on the I.D. Sentry Credit Card Wallet product page or the I.D. Sentry Passport Wallet product page to find out more information.

Mobile Edge continues to evolve with technology by offering new, innovative and fresh designs that fuse fashion trends with form and function, creating a brand that makes a statement about today’s mobile computing lifestyle.

Hitting the road with the Premium V-Load

Jason Gerdon October 23rd, 2007

I’m back in the office now after spending a few days out in Florida. It was a great trip and the weather was awesome, even with the daily thunderstorms. Nice change of pace though for someone from So Cal where we aren’t used to having that kind of weather. The flight was great too. I’ll definitely be flying Continental Airlines again after this trip.

17? Premium V-Load Briefcase What I was really stoked about was the new Mobile Edge Premium V-Load I had with me on this trip. Typically I am more of a backpack kind of guy, but the Premium V-Load went a long way in changing that. The biggest thing I was concerned about was how comfortable the bag would be after I stuffed it out with my 15.4″ widescreen laptop, 8″ personal DVD player, a couple of books, DVD’s, i-Pod and a bunch of other stuff.

Well, I am happy to say the exclusive Bungee Comfort System delivered as advertised. Combined with the padded shoulder strap, I never felt like was carrying too much for my poor shoulder to handle. And in case you couldn’t tell, the Premium V-Load can hold more than enough goodies. In fact, I was packing more than I needed purposely just to see if I could test the limits of the bag. I never did find where that was. This bag is awesome!

The Wireless Security Shield was great to have as well. Knowing my information was safe from hackers while in busy airports kept me at ease. It also came in handy during my daily meeting, because I was able to drop my smartphone in there and know I wouldn’t be interrupted by unwanted calls. I put this bag through the ringer over five days and whether it was in the airport, on the plane, in the car, or being carried around town, the Premium V-Load handled it all like a champ.

Maddie Powers Collection featured on ChipChick.com

Matthew Olivolo October 18th, 2007

By the Chip Chick

We’re pretty excited about Mobile Edge’s new line of Maddie Powers laptop bags because it’s one of the most refreshing laptop fashion designs we’ve seen yet. The bags have been designed with authentic pulp imagery from the 1940’s and 50’s. She is currently making two different lines – The CuteBug line for women includes glamorous old Hollywood starlets, while the Dig line for Maddie Powers Collection men, features a sports pulp icon image on the outside of the bag as well as the actual vintage magazine cover printed on the inside lining.

The Dig line is not currently available on the Mobile Edge site as of yet but the The Cutebug line is. The Cutebug Laptop Messenger ($89.99) can hold up to a 15.4? laptop and it has a cell phone pocket, a removable soft shoulder pad and it comes accessorized with “Lucky Seven” dice.

Komen Pink Suede Notebook Tote featured on About.com

Matthew Olivolo October 17th, 2007

From Catherine Roseberry, Your Guide to Mobile Office Technology, About.com
Komen Pink Suede Tote
While it’s appearance is feminine the Komen pink suede tote has a suede exterior which is very durable, and suede can stand up in inclement weather. With regular brushing and care th suede will look like new forever.

Women looking for a stylish and feminine laptop carrying case that can serve multi-purposes will like what the Komen Pink Suede Tote by Mobile Edge offers. This laptop case also has another purpose in its creation and that is that part of the proceeds from all sales go to a cancer charity – the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Searching for a laptop case which is not black and masculine looking isn’t always easy for women. Mobile Edge has created a line of laptop cases which have been designed exclusively for women.

This laptop case has a removable computer compartment which can be handy when going from work to an evening out and you don’t need to take your laptop with you. This dual functionality is appealing because it cuts down on requiring a purse and laptop case. There is also a removable pouch which can be used for mobile accessories during the day and cosmetics for other occasions.

This laptop case has certainly been designed to appeal to women and the fact that they require more from a laptop case, than just carrying their mobile gear.

Featured Bag: Maddie Powers Messenger Laptop Bag by Mobile Edge

Matthew Olivolo October 15th, 2007

By Kate – Funky, Chic and Cool Laptop Bags on Squidoo.com

Geek Girls, Go Retro with Your Laptop Bag!
I grew up smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt. Consequently, I spent a lot of time at church, listening to evangelical preachers exhorting sinners to join the flock. One of the most common motivational questions I heard was “Do you know that you know that if you died tonight you’d go to heaven and meet Jesus?” I always thought this was a pretty good motivator – a little fear, a little hope and the promise of schmoozing with one of the biggest celebrities around.

What does this have to do with cool laptop bags? Well, two decades later and I still don’t know if I’d go to heaven, BUT, I know what laptop bag I’d take with me to meet Jesus. And that bag, my friends, is the Maddie Powers Cutebug Laptop Messenger Bag – brought to you by Mobile Edge. When Matthew sent over a review copy, I thought I HAD died and gone to heaven. This bag is as close to perfection as possible. Let’s break it down …

Maddie Powers Messenger Bag on SquidooFirst, the look of the bag. I adore anything vintage. Maddie Powers bags and accessories all sport covers from authentic pulp novels and digest magazines from the 1940’s and 50’s. Tres chic! This messenger bag has a cover from a novel called “Bright Promises”. The rest of the exterior is black except for the back pocket. Flip this bag over and you have an exterior pocket that is covered in a royal purple faux-velvet. Read that again: Royal Purple Faux Velvet! This same material covers the shoulder strap pad. So HOT! Now, I only have tested it for a week, so I’m not sure if over the long term (and especially in the winter) the material will pill or not, but so far, so good. The back pocket seals with a small strip of velcro.

OK, let’s flip open that front flap and see what the interior is like.

Yup, no vintage in here. This is all modern, sure to please any 21st century geek girl.

The main interior pocket has a self-contained sleeve that is made from SafetyCell [tm] … a cool “lining” for the sleeve that has all these independent foam bumps. They function as “object deceleration” .. which I think means that they absorb more of the shock than regular single-layer foam cores if you drop the bag. Nice. Outside the sleeve is a large pocket that will easily hold several files, a notebook, magazine, power cord, etc. It also has a zippered pouch which would be good for items like plane tickets or travel docs that you want to keep separate and handy.

The other interior pocket in the front of the bag has the usual sets of pouches: mobile phone, pens, etc. It is big enough to house a power cord, wallet or other miscellaneous items. And it, too, has a zippered front pouch for additional docs or other important papers. The non-removable shoulder strap is very comfortable and can be adjusted to be quite long – so us big-busted gals can do the full across-the-body carry. The entire bag is really well constructed and is made of an easy-to-clean, water-resistant MicroFiber.

The whole thing closes with opposing velcro straps and they are long enough so that you can “over stuff” (really, can you ever carry too much stuff?) For the quality of the material and construction, the Cutebug Messenger doesn’t feel any heavier than other bags of its class. It is, however, a little larger both in width and depth; I ended up wearing it a little lower on my hip than other bags.

Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of the Cutebug Messenger, let alone the funky quotient of this bag!
