CNN – Canada limits carry-on bags into US

ScanFast Backpack going through airport security

Now is the time to invest in a TSA compliant Laptop Case. With all of the new screening procedures, being prepared when traveling is essential. A CNN report states that all Canadian flights entering the U.S. are now limiting what passengers carry-on. Luckily passengers are still able to carry-on laptop computers.

According to TSA officials, the ScanFast Collection of Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bags are still approved to pass through airport screening checkpoints. Here is a CNN article regarding security restrictions.

(CNN) — Canada is immediately limiting carry-on items for flights to the United States in the aftermath of a failed terror attack on a Northwest Airlines flight.

“Effective immediately, U.S.-bound passengers are not allowed to bring carry-on bags into the cabin of the aircraft, with some exceptions,” said a statement from Transport Canada.

According to the agency, carry-ons will be limited to medication or medical devices, small purses, cameras, coats, infant-care items, laptop computers, containers carrying life-sustaining or special-needs items, musical instruments, or diplomatic or consular bags. Crutches, canes and walkers also are permitted.

“These measures are expected to be in place at least for several days,” Transport Canada said.

Travel smart with Mobile Edge ScanFast Briefcase

Matthew Olivolo December 22nd, 2009

ScanFast Briefcase by Mobile Edge breezing through airport securityTraveling with your laptop is not always the easiest thing to do, especially when passing through airport security checkpoints. Not only do you have to take off your shoes, jacket, belt, empty your pockets, take out your cell phone and wallet. It can be overwhelming the more items you have.

Well Mobile Edge has helped solve at least one of your your worries with their ScanFast Collection of Laptop bags that are Checkpoint Friendly. Now when traveling you no longer have to remove your laptop from your case when using one of these TSA compliant laptop cases.

The simple butterfly design makes it super easy to use. When passing through security checkpoints, simply unzip the laptop case all the way down on both sides, lay the bag flat and place it one the X-Ray belt as seen in the photo above. When you get to the other side of the security screening area, pick up your bag and away you go.

Of course you still have to put your shoes, belt and other items back on. However saving the hassle of not removing your laptop from your bag, priceless…

Mobile Edge Does The Sumo, Stays Slim

Posted by Greg May, Technology Editor, Truly Obscure
Messenger bags come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. The best ones combine durable materials, flexible compartments, attractive or eye-catching design, and plenty of space. In the case of Mobile Edge, they almost take it overboard with the Sumo Laptop Messenger Bag.

Sumo Messenger Bag by Mobile EdgeAble to fit MacBooks up to 17 inches and PCs laptops up to 16 inches wide, this is a very large bag. Available directly from Mobile Edge in three color choices- red, pink, or silver, the pattern is eye-catching even if folks miss the sumo wrestlers at first (elephants seemed to be what many people saw).

Straps- both hand and shoulder- were comfortable but not overly-padded, stitching was sturdy and we liked the extra sumo details on the zippers and straps. Interior pocket space was excellent, including a couple of hidden spots, and our valuable computers felt safe in the corduroy-lined compartment, which was quite adjustable.

Made from ballistic nylon, we liked the reflective material for road safety when walking or biking. One side pouch was nicely netted, offering a space for a small beverage (larger ones won’t fit though).

At $55 or less, though, this is a pretty neat option with plenty of space for even the heftiest laptop and still room to spare. Mobile Edge, we’ve got our eye on you now, hidden sumo wrestlers or not.

Joy of green giving: High-tech, environmentally friendly gifts

By Robert S. Anthony, Technology Editor, NY Daily News

More of those dreams about a white Christmas will likely include the color green this year.
Manufacturers have been turning out more environmentally friendly products that reduce waste or minimize energy consumption.

Mobile Edge Eco-Friendly Komen ToteAlthough the Consumer Electronics Association expects total holiday season spending to dip 3% this year vs. 2008, the amount spent specifically on gifts — as opposed to food, home purchases, etc.— is expected to grow 4%. The spending outlook for high-tech gifts such as HDTVs, iPods and digital cameras is even rosier: an 8% spike is expected.

Mobile Edge Eco-Friendly Collection
Many notebook case manufacturers now offer products made from natural fibers as opposed to nylon. The Eco-Friendly Collection from Mobile Edge includes totes ($80) and messenger bags ($50) with cotton canvas exteriors. About 80% of the bags are biodegradable, according to Mobile Edge.

One bag in the Eco Tote Collection, which is designed for women, benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research. Some 10% of sales go to the organization.

What’s in your Mobile Edge laptop bag?

Matthew Olivolo December 4th, 2009

I’ve seen posts from so many people displaying exactly what they carry around each day in their laptop bag. I wondered, why would anyone care? But for some reason I was intrigued and joined the “What’s in your bag?” Club on Flickr. What I love about Flickr is you can tag items in your picture. Click here to see my picture on Flickr.

Here is a picture of my new Alienware ScanFast Messenger Bag. This is a very cool laptop bag that is Checkpoint Friendly. So you can leave your laptop in this bag when passing through airport security checkpoints. How cool is that?

Plus this TSA compliant laptop case will hold a laptop up to 17.3″ and has a Lifetime Warranty. I love the Trolley Strap on the back of this bag. You can set this on top of your rolling suitcase and bring the handles up through the trolley strap and your bag will stay secure. Yes, I do carry this stuff around. Send in what you carry in your Mobile Edge Laptop Bags and I’ll send you a FREE gift. Sent them to me at mo@mobileedge.com.
