Mobile Edge designer laptop bags showcased in Times Square

Matthew Olivolo March 25th, 2008

Caring Case Collection

That’s right, our Mobile Edge Caring Case Collection of stylish laptop bags appeared on a 10 story electronic billboard in Times Square, the hub of New York City where 2.2 million people pass daily. In a Press Release, Mobile Edge announced their recent donation contribution to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, which surpassed $250,000 since the program’s inception. Between the national program and all of the donations made to local Southern California Komen affiliates, we were able to contribute more than a quarter million dollars and counting.

As a proud corporate partner with the Komen Foundation, we are proud to help contribute money to such a worthy cause. This is a curable disease, and it is our goal to help raise enough money for research and awareness as needed. If everyone does their part in supporting this initiative, one day scientists may find a cure and eliminate this horrible disease once and for all.

The special Caring Case Collection is comprised of six pink themed laptop bags all toting the Komen pink ribbon medallion.

Mobile Edge donates 10 percent of the retail sales price of each Komen Laptop bag they sell back to the Foundation. This is our way of giving back to those in need. There is a lot of rhetoric out there of companies claiming to be socially responsible, and this is our way of actually doing just that.

Please help us raise money for such a worthy cause and get a designer laptop bag designed by women, for women, for the benefit of women. We stand behind every laptop case we make. All of our laptop bags come with a Lifetime Warranty, the strongest warranty in the industry!

The Mobile Edge Komen Paris Backpack Reviewed on NotebookReview.com

Jason Gerdon December 10th, 2007

By Sarah Meyer of NotebookReview.com

The Holidays are thought of as a time for charitable giving. So wouldn’t it be great to get a gift for a loved one or friend and at the same time give to a worthy cause?
Well, buying a bag from Mobile Edge’s Caring Case Collection might be the answer. Every time you buy a case from this collection, Mobile Edge give 10 percent of the sale price to one of two charities. I decided to check out a backpack from the Komen Collection, the Komen Paris. Can this backpack actually work well and do good at the same time?

The Komen Paris Backpack Specifications:

  • Proceeds to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure
  • Exterior Dimensions: 12.5″ W x 16″ L x 6″ D
  • Compartment Dimensions: 11.2″ W x 13.2″ L x 1.9″ D
  • Weight: 3.5 lbs.
  • Black Microfiber and Faux Leather
  • Ergonomic Cool-Mesh ventilated back panel
  • The SafetyCell computer protection compartment
  • Removable accessories/cosmetics pouch
  • Lifetime warranty

Design and Aesthetics
The Komen Paris is a part of the special edition Komen Collection which features Mobile Edge For Her Bags in the trademark breast cancer pink and include a metal breast cancer ribbon keychain. However, Mobile Edge does sell the regular Paris backpack in other colors and fabrics. The outside of the Komen Paris is stylish in a mix of black and pink with silver buckles and hardware. The bag is a made of a black microfiber except for the front faux leather flap that covers the compartment zippers. Not to worry, the faux leather is not made of that ugly fake leather, “pleather.” I even had people ask me if the faux leather was real. Running down the middle of the bag is a solid pink stripe with a silver buckle in the middle that secures the faux leather flap. There is also pink stitching around the outer edge and on all the zipper pulls.

Underneath the faux leather flap there are two large zippered compartments and a smaller, mesh zippered pocket. The mesh pocket is perfect for small items that you want to be able to reach easily. I kept my cell phone, iPod and a small billfold in this pocket.
The first zippered compartment has six pockets inside of it. Mobile Edge refers to this section on their website as a “workstation.” Two of the pockets are zippered mesh pockets similar to the previous mesh pocket only smaller. These pockets would be perfect for keys, pens/pencils, a flash drive, post-it notes, and other small office supplies.
The other three pockets in the workstation are closed with Velcro straps. The top two are smaller; perfect for a cell phone, PDA, video iPod, etc (I kept two wireless mice I reviewed in these pockets). The third Velcro pocket could be used for small accessories like a mouse, USB extension cords, a mini hub, or a cell phone charger. The last pocket is just a large open pocket. Slip a notepad in, or store a power cord in this pocket. The second zippered compartment is perfect for storing textbooks or spiral notebooks. I kept my purse, gloves and my organizer in this pocket. This pocket also has a key fob with the accessories/cosmetics pouch attached. The pouch isn’t huge and it’s made of cheap fabric but it would be perfect for makeup.

The Mobile Edge Komen Milano Featured on CrunchGear

Jason Gerdon December 10th, 2007

Doug Aamoth over at CrunchGear just wrapped up a review of the Mobile Edge Komen Milano as part of the CG Holiday 2007 Recommendations. Here is a little of what he had to say about the Komen Milano:

Looking for that special gift for the lady in your life? Or maybe you’re ready to tell the lady in your life that you’ve been following (but doesn’t know you exist) how much she means to you. Or maybe you really like pink and you want to give a little to a worthy cause.
Whatever the case, consider the Komen Milano from Mobile Edge. It’s made of faux pink crocodile and 10% of the $129.99 purchase price will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer charity.

Mobile Edge G-Pak Featured on A True Review

Jason Gerdon November 19th, 2007

By Daniel W. of A True Review

The Mobile Edge G-Pak is a very comfortable bag to wear.  The padded shoulder straps and strategically padded back panel makes the bag easy on the shoulders and back even when the bag is heavily loaded.  The mesh covering on said padding help minimize perspiration when wearing the bag for long periods of time in warm temperatures.

Being that the notebook compartment is located at the back of the main compartment, I initially thought it would be difficult to insert and remove a notebook computer (because of my experiences with other backpacks with similarly located notebook compartments).  However, the tapered design of the G-Pak’s notebook compartment really countered my concerns as the abnormally wide entrance to the compartment made inserting and removing a notebook computer really easy.

The notebook compartment is very roomy and can easily accommodate computers up 15″ screens (thick or thin, wide or standard).  I almost want to say that the bag can even handle certain 17″ notebooks though I do not have one on hand to try.  In my actual experience, the compartment easily accommodated, separately, a 15″ Dell Inspiron 8600 as well as a 14″ Compaq Presario 2000 with an extended battery.  Though the compartment is quite wide, the elastic Velcro strap does help keep the enclosed computer secure.

The rest of the G-Pak’s main compartment is fairly roomy.  It can easily accommodate thick textbooks, binders, folders, and/or light sweatshirts and jackets.  However, this bag is not “hiking backpack” sized; it cannot handle heavy jackets, multiple thick textbooks, and other really large items.
The various accessory pockets in the main compartment work well holding various computer related accessories such as a power adapter and a mouse as well as CDs and flash drives.

The two wing compartments are quite roomy for side pockets.  These compartments are nearly as tall as the main compartment.  They can easily accommodate long items such as a compact umbrella.  For all you in-line skaters out there, they can even fit fairly flat shoes in them (one per compartment)!

The hidden water bottle holder design is a nice touch as it helps keep the bag’s streamline look when the holder is not needed but is there when it is needed.  The holder can hold standard half liter water/soda bottles as well as canned drinks.  Any substantially bigger bottles would need to be placed in one of the bigger wing compartments.

The media pocket compartment is roomy enough to hold a CD player or even multiple iPods and other portable media players.  The location of this pocket is really well placed.  Being high on the bag means less cable needs to feed out of the pocket.

The cell phone pocket on the left shoulder strap is convenient - if your phone can fit into this long but narrow pocket.  It does alternatively function well as an accessories pocket for frequently accessed things such as pens, flash drives, keys, and change.

The Komen Paris Backpack Featured on GirlaWhirl

Jason Gerdon November 9th, 2007

When it comes to a tote or handbag, Girlawhirl usually tries to balance form and function, but when it comes to protecting her computer, function always wins out. She’s more than happy to give up a little fashion for the peace of mind knowing that her laptop is well protected. But she just found a new carrying case she’s happy to be caught sporting around town…
When she’s on the go, Girlawhirl needs to know her computer will be safe and secure as she runs from meeting to meeting, cab to train and everywhere in between. And her new Paris Backpack is just what the laptop doctor ordered. Big enough to hold laptops with screens up to 15.4″ wide, the SafetyCellTMComputer Protection Compartment cushions her laptop while Girlawhirl’s busy running around.

But this bag isn’t just about computer safety; the Mobile Edge backpack also features separate compartments for files or magazines, and multiple interior pockets great for organizing all of her pens, USB drives, cables, discs and more. There’s even a removable cosmetics case for personal items and lipsticks. And the comfortable straps make lugging her laptop around easy on her shoulders.

Boomer Esiason interviewed on ESPN

Matthew Olivolo November 7th, 2007

Boomer Esiason, former NFL quarterback and President of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, was recently interviewed on ESPN.com. He spoke about how he has vowed to make a difference for those affected with cystic fibrosis. His son Gunnar has cystic fibrosis and the video shows early childhood video of how Boomer and his family have helped Gunnar battle this terrible disease.

Mobile Edge is a proud sponsor of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and donates 10 percent of the sales price of each BEF laptop case we sell back to the Foundation.

This is a very inspirational video. Click here to see how Gunnar is doing today with this illness.

Mobile Edge & BEF: Together Fighting Cystic Fibrosis

Jason Gerdon November 2nd, 2007

I’m sure most of you out there have heard of Boomer Esiason before. He was an NFL quarterback from 1984-1997 and was the 1988 NFL MVP. More importantly, he started the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) to fight against Cystic Fibrosis. Boomer and his wife Cheryl founded BEF after their son Gunnar was diagnosed with the disease in 1993.

Mobile Edge partnered with Boomer and BEF to raise money to help find a cure. We have since launched the Mobile Edge BEF Collection. This Collection for men and women helps to raise awareness and money, so that one day there will be a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. For every bag sold from the BEF Collection, Mobile Edge will donate 10 percent of the sales price to BEF.
