Matthew Olivolo November 15th, 2010

Mobile Edge laptop bags can be seen on television screens on numerous shows like Glee on Fox, Chuck on NBC, Pretty Little Liars on ABC Family and of course Community on NBC.

Actors really like the styling and usability of Mobile Edge cases. In fact, this season Donald Glover who play’s Troy on Community has made the Mobile Edge Academic Backpack his main laptop bag of choice. You can see him carrying his Mobile Edge Backpack in NBC promos for the show as well as in just about every episode.

Click on the video below to see how Troy’s backpack was inspected by Joel McHale looking for Annie’s missing pen. Watch Community on Thursday nights 8/7c on NBC.

Mobile Edge laptop bags video review in UK

Matthew Olivolo November 11th, 2010

By Pollyanna Woodward, Host of The Gadget Show

Pollyanna Woodward, Host of the Gadget Show in the United Kingdom took 20 different laptop cases from a variety of companies and put them through a rigorous test never seen before.

She placed a fragile plate inside each laptop bag, and then kicked the bag down two flights of stairs. If the plate broke, then it didn’t provide enough protection for your laptop and the case was eliminated.

She then took the remaining bags and dropped the bags off of a two story balcony. Again, if the plate broke inside the bag it was eliminated.

Pollyanna ended up with six bags and she could only recommend five. So she placed the bag in the back of her VW Toureg SUV, and slammed the back hatch down onto the bag. Another bag was eliminated and there were two Mobile Edge laptop bags in the top five.

Her last test was to see how well the bags would protect from moisture. So she placed a newspaper inside each bag and held each bag on her shoulder at the same time. Next a colleague sprayed her with a hose completely drenching her.

End result, the Mobile Edge Komen Paris Backpack was crowned #2 out of twenty laptop bags, and the Mobile Edge SecurePack was given the #3 spot out of twenty. A very unorthodox review, but it does really show the quality and protection each Mobile Edge laptop case provides.

Cara Stewart, the founder and chief of Remarx Media shows off her style with a (Mobile Edge) Maddie Powers Messenger Bag designed with a vintage themed magazine cover pin-up model.

“I love the glamour of the 1940’s, but let’s face it, I’m a modern professional who’s on the go. My Maddie Powers purple messenger bag serves my mobile lifestyle,” Cara said.

“It protects my laptop and has plenty of pockets and sleeves to hold what I need to work remotely. But unlike any other case I’ve owned before, it fits my style perfectly. The pulp image is fun and always a conversation-starter when I meet new clients or I’m networking.”

We enjoy seeing Mobile Edge laptop cases in action, thanks Cara for sending us your photo. Your case matches your own personal sense of style perfectly.

Mobile Edge customer uses Premium Backpack over 5 years

Matthew Olivolo November 9th, 2010

Traveling across the country, I have seen hundreds of Mobile Edge customers at airports over the years. I often stop and ask them how they like their Mobile Edge laptop bag. I have yet to hear anything negative and typically they tell me how they love their purchase. In fact, I normally hear they have used their laptop bag for years and traveled with it wherever they go.

Yesterday, when traveling through Phoenix, I bumped into a Mobile Edge customer using our extremely popular and practically indestructible Premium Backpack. His name was Phillip Pierce from Dallas, Texas.

He bought two Mobile Edge Premium Backpacks a little over five years ago, and travels all over the country with them. For his job, he has to carry around a lot of electronic equipment and needs the extra room and comfort the Premium Backpack provides.

“I’ve tried several other backpacks from different companies,” explained Pierce. “None of the other brands made a bag big enough to carry all of my equipment. This bag has held up for more than five years now and it is still good to go.”

It was great to meet another happy Mobile Edge customer while traveling. Send me your travel pictures of you and your Mobile Edge laptop case, and I will send you a FREE Mobile Edge gift for your time and effort. Send it to Matthew at mo@mobileedge.com.

Mobile Edge ScanFast 2.0 Briefcase review – Gadgeteer

Matthew Olivolo November 1st, 2010

By Steve Holt, Technology Editor, Gadgeteer

When you are going through airport security, what’s the most important thing? I mean, aside from making sure your socks don’t have holes in them, that is. You want to get through it fast, right? And it sure is a hassle having to remove your laptop from its bag and then put it back in the bag on the other side. Well, no more worries mate. The Mobile Edge ScanFast Checkpoint Friendly Briefcase 2.0 is the bag for you!

In the past month I went on 2 trips so I had to go through airport security in several different airports around the country. I was intrigued by this bag that claimed I didn’t have to remove my laptop before going through security, because they are pretty strict at airport security, right? I wondered how all the airport security folks around the country got the message about this bag and what I was going to say if they made me remove the laptop. I wondered if Julie was going to bail me out of jail for refusing to remove the laptop, because my review just wouldn’t work if I had to remove it! Luckily, Julie didn’t have to come to my rescue.

I was successful at every airport getting through security without having to remove the laptop from the bag, and it was simply a breeze with this bag! As you can see from the picture below, you just unzip the main zipper and open the bag completely flat. Lay the bag on the conveyor belt and shazam, that’s it. I didn’t have to get an extra bin to put the laptop in, thereby saving me a couple minutes and lots of hassle. If I traveled a lot, this bag would be extremely valuable because over the long run the minutes you save having to stand in line add up.

I am very pleased with this bag, and even though it can’t hold as much stuff as some of my larger computer bags, this has become my daily-use bag of choice. And because of the quality of materials, and a lifetime guarantee, I think this is going to last me a long time. Some added benefits of the bag for traveling are that it fits in overhead bins of course, but also, because of its small size it fits under the seat in front of you.

Mobile Edge EVO Backpack featured on Game Revolution

Matthew Olivolo July 29th, 2010

By Chris Hudak, Gamer/Technology Editor, Game Revolution

Mobile Edge EVO Backpack - Ideal for 16" PC Laptops and 17" MacBook Pros. The Mobile Edge EVO Backpack has replaced all my other carry-on options in one fell swoop. My biggest gripe with most tech-luggage options… Pockets/compartments or rather, the glaring lack of enough of them of the right size, place and function. The EVO offers 16 compartments for a wide variety of specific purposes: There’s the main laptop sleeve, of course, sufficient to hold/protect laptops up to 16”/17” models.

There are also easily-accessible slots to hold typically-sized USB drives and memory cards, protected pockets suitable for both business cards and smaller electronics, a roomy dedicated media pocket with cable-ports for MP3 players or smartphones, holders for pens and pencils; a rugged moisture-resistant bottom panel protecting the main compartment; five good-sized, zippered outer compartments (one of which is specifically designed to ready access to bottled drinks of various sizes); and two secure outer mesh pockets for the small stuff you grab and stash most as you make your way through the airport, outside the hotel, into the dark, foreboding woods or what have you.

It’s all intelligently designed around a main interior space just big enough for a couple-day trip, and the straps are strong and comfy, with yet another secure mesh pocket right there, for yet another radio/phone/gadget, you techno-junkie, you.

Mobile Edge Women’s Express Backpack on PCMag.com

Matthew Olivolo July 21st, 2010

By Natalie Shoemaker, Technology Editor PC Magazine

Mobile Edge Women's Express Backpack ideal for 17" MacBook Pros or 16" PC LaptopsPC Magazine Editor's Rating - Very GoodI’m the kind of girl who likes to carry her life in her bags: I need to have my MacBook, a (paper) book, my iPod, my HTC Incredible, and all my other doodads each day. The Mobile Edge Women’s Express Backpack ($59.99 direct) is the perfect carrying solution for women who need to carry a lot of stuff without it weighing on them uncomfortably.

The first two things you’ll notice about the Express Backpack is its size (20 by 8.5 by 16 inches, HWD) and its design. The front of the pink-and-black bag is decorated with dotted ribbons (pink polka dots are also an option)–needless to say, this backpack is for those who like to emphasize their inner girly-girl. The bag is sturdy and weighs about 2.8 pounds.

The Express Backpack has five pouches: Two smaller ones on the right, one on the left, one small dome-shaped pouch on the top, and the main pouch making up most of the bag’s space. The main pouch can open fully, conveniently exposing the entirety of the bag’s insides. Here you’ll find a snug compartment to hold your laptop (up to16 inches), five small pockets attached to the inside walls to hold miscellaneous items, a pencil holder, and a main compartment to throw textbooks, games or even an Xbox 360.

The bottom of the bag is reinforced, in case one of your pens or pointy objects gets loose.

Mobile Edge EVO Backpack & Alienware Mx11 Portfolio at E3

Matthew Olivolo June 28th, 2010

Chris Hudak from Crave Online poses with a waitress at Trader Vics in LA as she holds the new Alienware Mx11 Portfolio by Mobile Edge.Technology writer Chris Hudak from Blog Sites including Machinima, Crave Online and Game Revolution is now testing the new Mobile Edge EVO Backpack and Alienware Mx11 Portfolio. He flew from San Francisco down to LA to attend E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo at the Staples Center last week. He’ll be posting a review soon on one or more of the blogs he writes for.

While Chris was attending the event, he toted around the Mobile Edge Alienware Mx11 Portfolio. He said he loved the sleek footprint of the new Mx11 which was designed to carry around Alienware’s newest gaming computer, the Mx11. It is made simply to carry around the computer, the power supply and a few peripherals . That’s what makes the portfolio lightweight and extremely mobile. The small design allows you to carry the portfolio in a larger bag if needed, or durable enough to carry by itself when you want to be light.

On the last day of the show I met with Chris at Trader Vic’s, a Tiki themed restaurant right around the corner from the Staples Center. In the photo, Chris is posing with a waitress showing off the new Alienware Mx11 Portfolio. Even she liked the portfolio. Chris is sporting a “Prinny” hat from NIS America, publishers for the Disgaea series of games.

This new case is hot and has been challenging to keep in stock due to its popularity. If you own an Mx11, you need this case for sure!

Stay tuned for Chris’s reviews on both products.

Alienware Orion Messenger Bag reviewed Notebookreviews.com

Alienware Orion ScanFast Messenger Bag and Alienware Mx11 Sleeve by Mobile Edge

By Jerry Jackson, Senior Editor Notebookreviews.com

EDITOR RATING:Notebook.com Editor rating. Rates the Mobile Edge Alienware Orion Messenger Bag four stars

Mobile Edge is a laptop bag and accessory manufacturer that has a history of making bags for Alienware gaming notebooks. Our editors had mixed feelings about some of the Alienware bags from Mobile Edge in the past, but the latest Alienware Orion Messenger (ScanFast) and Alienware Netbook Sleeve promise to exceed our expectations. I spent a few weeks using the new bag and sleeve with my Alienware M11x to see if these products are worth your hard-earned cash.

The Alienware Orion Messenger (ScanFast) is an update to the Alienware line of accessories from Mobile Edge and it indeed looks like a substantial improvement over the older Alienware-themed designs from Mobile Edge. The majority of the exterior and interior is made of 840 Denier Nylon but the front face of the bag features a semi-rigid panel of matte black foam/plastic that gives some added protection against impact if you’re tossing the messenger bag into an overhead compartment or you accidentally kick the bag under the seat while on a flight.

Alienware PCs are all about brand recognition and the same can be said for the Alienware Orion Messenger. The shoulder strap pad features the Alienware name in the official font. Every zipper has black metal versions of the alien head logo embedded in the durable rubber pull tabs. The mirror-polished metal alien head logo on the front panel of the bag is the most obvious indication that you’re looking at something related to Alienware, but I have to say it seems a little odd that the back of the bag doesn’t have any Alienware branding at all, just mesh padding and a handle sleeve that fits over your roller luggage in the airport.

Mobile Edge Backpack featured on NBC’s Community

Matthew Olivolo April 23rd, 2010

The comical TV Show “Community” on NBC has some great actors, and the writers truly are geniuses. Mobile Edge products can be seen on various episodes including this one with actor Alison Brie who is in love with her new TPS Backpack. In this scene Alison flaunts how she received the case for free and it’s the best bag she’s ever owned.

Sadly, at the end of this episode her co-star Joel McHale who plays the lead role sabotages the laptop backpack by shredding it and hanging it up in a hallway on the school campus for everyone to see. It is a sad moment for her (and us). However, in an upcoming episode Alison will have the opportunity to choose a new Mobile Edge laptop Backpack from her college bookstore for her to use in the entire next season.
