Here is a brief recap of her article.

At £120, the Sumo Women’s Laptop Purse isn’t a cheap item, but it is one of the nicest laptop bags we’ve seen recently. It strikes a great balance between style, practicality and usability, and it’s also just about affordable. We’ve had one for the past week or so, to find out how we’ve been getting on with the Sumo Women’s Laptop Purse, join us after the break.

The Sumo Women’s Laptop Purse, as the name implies, is a laptop bag aimed purely at women. As such, it sits at the smaller end of the laptop bag market, and looks more like a hardwearing handbag than a laptop case.

Finished in nylon, this stylish case is every bit durable enough to take with you everywhere you go, and the quality of the stitching is top notch. The Sumo is available in a few different colours – including red and black, but our favourite is the black with contrasting pink stitching option, which is both distinctive yet classy.

The Sumo has leather detailing, with the leather straps adding a tactile and attractive finish. The bottom of the bag is also finished in leather, proven hardware and easy to clean.

My iPad arrived on Launch Day and I didn’t have anything to protect and carry it. (At least not something that was designed for it, anyway.)

So, I visited my oft-neglected Netbook (an Acer Aspire One A150 with an 8.9 inch display, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 9-cell battery) and stripped it naked of it’s neoprene sleeve – a SlipSuit Neoprene Sleeve Case from Mobile Edge.

My iPad fit nicely inside with barely a hint of extra space thanks to the gusset that protects the device from getting scratched by the zipper. I had considered this just a temporary solution until I remembered my Aluratek CDM530AM portable 3G hotspot and my USB 3G dongle. Both fit perfectly in the outside pocket along with my iPad power brick, a USB extension cable and the sync and charge cable with the 30-pin dock connector that comes with every iGadget these days.

The sleeve is well designed with solid stitching, smart design and nice attention to detail that I would highly recommend for your iPad.

Bottom Line: If you want a solidly constructed case for your Apple iPad with some extra storage for accessories, the Slipsuit Neoprene Sleeve for 10? Netbooks from Mobile Edge is great choice.

By Robert S. Anthony, Technology Editor, NY Daily News

More of those dreams about a white Christmas will likely include the color green this year.
Manufacturers have been turning out more environmentally friendly products that reduce waste or minimize energy consumption.

Although the Consumer Electronics Association expects total holiday season spending to dip 3% this year vs. 2008, the amount spent specifically on gifts — as opposed to food, home purchases, etc.— is expected to grow 4%. The spending outlook for high-tech gifts such as HDTVs, iPods and digital cameras is even rosier: an 8% spike is expected.

Mobile Edge Eco-Friendly Collection
Many notebook case manufacturers now offer products made from natural fibers as opposed to nylon. The Eco-Friendly Collection from Mobile Edge includes totes ($80) and messenger bags ($50) with cotton canvas exteriors. About 80% of the bags are biodegradable, according to Mobile Edge.

One bag in the Eco Tote Collection, which is designed for women, benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research. Some 10% of sales go to the organization.

By Joe Brancatelli, Portolio, Business Editor

One road warrior’s list of the must-have gadgets, devices, and services to make life out of the office a bit more bearable.

I’ve been on the road so long that I recall being labeled a “high-tech business traveler” because I owned a dual-time-zone watch and a carried a phone card rather than a pocketful of coins to feed a public phone.

To say that the tools of business travel have come a long, long way in the last 30 years is an insane understatement. In fact, now we suffer from high-tech overload. There’s a temptation to adopt every new gadget or software gimmick, stuff it in our carry-on bag, and take it one the road—just in case.

Worst of all, high technology has robbed us of control of our own schedules. Back in the day, the only way our offices could reach us was when we chose to call in from our hotel room or a pay phone. We were able to go about our business on the road while someone else worried about what was going on back in the office. But with email, texting, cell phones, BlackBerries, and iPhones, it’s never acceptable to be out of touch. So we end up having to balance the work we’re doing on the road and all the minutiae back in the office. Even for experienced multitaskers, that’s a lot to manage while battling airline delays, snarky hotel clerks, and the occasional crazed cabbie.

Yet retreat is impossible. We’re all high-tech travelers now, and we might as well make peace with the cornucopia of options in front of us. And if the following choices seems sparse—almost a Luddite’s list—remember that it’s not the amount of stuff you use, it’s the time you save using what you choose to carry.

One Great Flight Tracker
Whether you prefer the online or the mobile version, FlightStats is the killer app for keeping track of flights and delays. It’s easy and intuitive to use and offers the best array of useful historical data.

One Great Computer Manager
To keep abreast of what’s stored where on my various computers—home and office machines, laptop and Netbook – I rely on LogMeIn. I think it’s the best of commercial services that offer Web-based remote computer access, support, and management. There are several versions at several price points, and each offers plenty of flexibility. The free version suits my needs just fine, but your mileage may vary.

One Great WiFi Roaming Service
The world is full of WiFi hotspots, but most of them are behind a confusing array of high-priced firewalls. Boingo vaults you over most of those walls at a fair price: $9.95 a month for unlimited access in North America or $59 a month for unlimited global access. More than 125,000 hotspots accept Boingo, including the WiFi systems at more than 500 airports and 20,000 hotels.

One Great External Drive
I’m an electronic generation behind because I’m still using thumb drives for my external data-storage needs on the road. But the world now belongs to huge-capacity external hard drives that fit in your pocket. The OWC Mercury doesn’t even require an AC adapter. Its 3.5-by-5.5-by-1-inch drives, which store up to one terabyte of data, can be powered by FireWire and USB ports. The eGo Portable hard drives come in stylish colors (red, silver, blue, and black), are even smaller than the OWC Mercury, and look vaguely like hip flasks. Prices for external hard drives start at about $75 depending on storage capacity.

And one important fact Joe didn’t mention was a laptop bag to carry all of your travel gadgets, so I did.

One Great Laptop Bag
It is important for travelers to be mobile, have the ability to take their work laptop and other accessories with them on the road. That’s where the new ScanFast Laptop Bag Collection comes into play. Designed for business travelers, this new Collection of Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Bags allows you to keep your laptop inside the bag when passing through airport security checkpoints. TSA compliant laptop bags help you move through security lines quicker. This helps you keep track of your laptop and other valuable electronics once they go through the X-Ray screening. Often times your gear makes it through the screener faster than you do, so your items are left at the end of the security X-Ray belt unattended and easily pilfer-able.

It’s been eight years since September 11, 2001. It is a day that no one will ever forget. Speaking with scores of people in various states, the sentiments all seem to be the same. Everyone remembers where they were when the tragic events transpired that day.

I personally was living in New York on Long Island as a young Marine Staff Sergeant. I was a combat correspondent and happened to be driving over the Verrazano Bridge coming from Brooklyn and going to Staten Island. I was on my way to take photos of a Marine recruiter that had recently achieved an outstanding award.

As I was driving across the bridge I was listening to the traffic report on KNX-1070 (traffic report is mandatory when driving in NYC), and heard the North Tower was hit by a low flying aircraft.

Looking over my shoulder I could see one tower engulfed in flames. I quickly drove into Staten Island and parked in the harbor looking across the waterway to lower Manhattan and started taking photos. It was mass chaos with emergency vehicles scrambling to the scene. Then the second plane hit. It was at that point everyone knew this was deliberate and we were under attack.

Soon after, the Pentagon was hit. Then the last hijacked plane crashed in a desolate field in Pennsylvania. My thought while I watched the two towers burn was, how the hell will they be able to put the fire out??? Once the buildings collapsed it was at that point I knew we as a country would never be the same.

The next day I went down to Ground Zero and took hundreds of photos. Out of all the photos I took, this one was ironically inspiring to me. There stood the American Flag, proudly whipping in the wind right next to the remains of the World Trade Center. To me this showed the world our resolve as a country and our relentless will to fight.

I will never forget the thousands of innocent people that died that day.

Komen for the Cure company website" href="http://ww5.komen.org/" target="_self">Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help raise money for research and awareness to fight Breast Cancer as a life threatening disease.

Today, Founder and sister to Susan G. Komen, Nancy Brinker, was awarded the nation’s highest award a civilian can be awarded, the coveted Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

Nancy along with 15 other Medal of Freedom recipients stood before a large crown in the Oval Office in Washington D.C. Below is the official news I clipped from the Associated Press (AP) news wire.

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama presented the nation’s highest civilian honor to 16 actors, athletes, activists, scientists and humanitarians.
Among those receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a White House ceremony Wednesday are film star Sidney Poitier, civil rights leader Rev. Joseph Lowery and tennis legend Billie Jean King.

Others being honored are retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy is getting the medal, too, but the Massachusetts Democrat is not at the White House due to his fight against brain cancer.

Posthumous awards are going to former Republican Rep. Jack Kemp of New York and gay rights activist Harvey Milk.

Drawing strength from tragedy, Nancy Goodman Brinker has transformed the nation’s approach to breast cancer. When her sister was diagnosed in 1977, most breast cancer victims knew relatively little about the disease and suffered from popular stigmas. Nancy G. Brinker promised to challenge these norms. She founded Susan G. Komen for the Cure in honor of her sister, and today, the organization supports research and community awareness programs across the United States and around the world. Nancy G. Brinker’s unique passion and determination have been a blessing to all those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

Nancy Goodman Brinker
Nancy Goodman Brinker is the founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s leading breast cancer grass roots organization. Brinker established the organization in memory of her sister, who passed away from breast cancer in 1980. Through innovative events like Race for the Cure, the organization has given and invested over $1.3 billion for research, health services and education services since its founding in 1982 and developed a worldwide grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists who are working together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find cures. Brinker has received several awards for her work, and has also served in government as U.S. Ambassador to Hungary (2001 – 2003), Chief of Protocol of the U.S. (2007 – 2009), and Chair of the President’s Cancer Panel (1990). In May, Nancy Goodman Brinker was named the first-ever World Health Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Cancer Control.
